Three things, done well

Read the thread. Draft the reply. Stay private.

HeyReply does three jobs and keeps the rest of Reddit untouched.

Translate any thread.

Pick your language. The side panel translates the post and the comment you're reading. Fifty plus languages, slang preserved, names left alone.

Draft your reply.

Four tones — Friendly, Neutral, Supportive, Skeptical. Or write a custom prompt that captures your voice. The reply is yours to edit.

Stays in your hands.

HeyReply can't post for you — it's not in the manifest. Usernames and links are stripped before any AI sees the thread. Nothing is stored.

How it works

Three steps. No surprises.

01 / Open

Open the side panel.

Click the HeyReply icon on any Reddit page. The panel docks to the right and pulls in the post you're reading along with the comment in focus.

02 / Read or reply

Translate or draft.

Pick a language to translate the thread, or pick a tone and let Claude draft a reply. Adjust the wording, regenerate if you like.

03 / Copy

Copy. Paste. Post.

You stay in control. HeyReply never writes to Reddit on your behalf. You read the draft, you decide, you post.

Privacy & security

Three guarantees. No fine print.

We built HeyReply to be defensible by design — not by promise.

No write access to Reddit.

The extension can't post, vote, or message. The manifest declares read-only host permissions. You can verify it in manifest.json.

Identifiers stripped.

u/username, r/subreddit, and URLs are removed via regex on your device, before any network call leaves the browser.

Zero retention.

Requests run through Anthropic's zero-retention endpoint. We log error counts and daily-cap status — never thread content, never your replies.

Stack. Powered by Claude Sonnet 4.6 via a Cloudflare Worker (reddit-assist.borchello.workers.dev). Per-IP rate limiting, daily spend cap. Source code public on GitHub. Personal project — not affiliated with Reddit Inc. or Anthropic.

FAQ

Honest answers.

Is it really free?
Yes — 5 generations a day on the Free plan, no card, no expiry. Heavy users move to Basic, Pro, or bring their own key.
Do I need a Claude API key?
No on Free, Basic, and Pro — those run through our hosted backend. Yes on the BYO Key plan, where you pay Anthropic directly (≈ $0.01 per generation) and your key never leaves your browser.
Will HeyReply post replies for me?
No — and it physically can't. The Chrome manifest declares no write permission to Reddit. Every reply is something you copy and paste yourself.
Is this against Reddit's Terms of Service?
Reading public threads is fine. HeyReply doesn't scrape, store, or train on Reddit content — it just helps you understand and reply. Whether AI-assisted replies are acceptable in a particular subreddit is up to that subreddit's rules.
Can my Reddit account get banned for using HeyReply?
Not from using HeyReply itself — the extension never touches your account. What you choose to post is between you and Reddit's content policies.
Is this a karma-farming or spam tool?
No. There's no automation. Every reply requires you to read it, copy it, and paste it. The friction is intentional.
What does Anthropic do with my prompts?
HeyReply uses Anthropic's zero-retention endpoint, which means inputs and outputs aren't stored. We don't store them either — only error counts and daily-cap status, never content.
What exactly gets stripped before sending?
Reddit usernames (u/...), subreddit references (r/...), and URLs are removed via regex on your device, before any network call.
Mobile?
Not yet — desktop Chrome only. Mobile Reddit clients don't expose a side panel.
Apollo, RIF, Boost, Narwhal?
Not supported. HeyReply only works on reddit.com in a desktop Chromium browser.
Other browsers?
Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, and other Chromium browsers all work today. Firefox and Safari are on the roadmap.
Is HeyReply open source?
Yes — source code is public on GitHub. The privacy claims on this page are verifiable in the manifest and in the content script.
